NuktaArt – Contemporary art magazine of Pakistan
This biannual publication was founded in 2005 when the Art of Pakistan was coming of age at home and gaining recognition abroad. This was also a time when a voice was needed in the print media to inform audiences and extend the discursive space.
NuktaArt places art at the core and offers art critics, art historians and artists to examine, debate and contextualize the many dimensions of this field worldwide. Related disciplines such as architecture, graphic design, performing arts and film are also included in the discourse.
One of its priorities is to foreground the shared history of the pre- independence period of the region and critically examine this connection.
NuktaArt maps the diverse discourse on the visual arts in Pakistan, and its interface with other cultures. Its focus is outside the dominant art discourse, to foreground the textural richness of the stories embedded in the global histories of Art.
